Title: YADB/Tagging Request
Post by: GHammer on April 25, 2004, 11:50:41 pm
Over time I have retired all the tools I used to use when ripping CDs. MC had become a complete high quality tool for this.

With one exception.

I do not get complete info on an album via YADB. When I was ripping to MP3, I'd fire up WMP 9 and let it go get the info including images. Then just update MCs library from tags.

With APE files, this is not possible of course.
The Godfather handles APE files, and has the ability to tag from AMG, but again, I'd like to be able to stay within MC.

Any plans to expand the info YADB holds for its entries? In fact, what data is possible frm YADB?

Thanks for your time.

I think this is possible. You can update from tags for ape files too.

No, I'm pretty sure WMP does not do anything with APE files.
The latest Godfather beta does a very nice job from the AMG site though.

I'd just like to be able to rip and tag completely from MC.

Check out the ATagger plugin.  It is great for filling in tags and finding album art where YADB fails.  I also sometimes use EAC to rip CDs that aren't identified by YADB - I often find that FreeDB and CDDB have much better libraries than YADB, and so I sometimes I have to use an external tool to identify CDs.  I asked about expanding the CD lookup options in MC, but there doesn't seem to be too much interest in using an outside (and IMHO better) database.  Perhaps someone could put together a plugin to do this.

Until then, definitely check out ATagger, it's great for filling out extra info.
