Title: Ripping error: "open drive failed"

I searched for this problem, and found only two references to it (and no answers) relating to the Beta 9 version.  But I am using Version 8.0.388 and I cannot rip a CD (and have never been able to).  I get these error messages: "Open drive failed.  Parameter is out of range."  Then: "Read track failed.  Drive is not opened."  It does this with all CDs I try.
  Now, I can rip just fine (and have always been able to) with the same computer and equipment and Music Match Jukebox.  Why can't I do this with Media Jukebox??
   I also cannot play CDs digitally, and have to use analog.  Again, I can digitally play and rip with Music Match, but not Media Jukebox.  Anyone have any ideas?

Please provide us with your Sysytem Info (MJ > Help > System info --> Copy/Paste here), so we can try to help.

this is really low turn off all programs to include the ones like chat programs, norton etc...

Also turn off any Skins If your using them GDI should never be this low.

I've had he same problem and also reported with System Info.  :)

I have a hunch that I may have a fix for this problem, but I'm not sure. If you would send me an email, I'll send you a new ripper control to try.

Since someone suggested I didn't have enough available resources, I tried again after unloading several things which run in the background (such as AdSubtract, ZoneAlarm, DirectCD, Second Copy, and FantomCD).  With all those removed, it still gave the same error, and the system info was:

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.388

Memory: Total - 392 MB, Free - 302 MB
Resource Info: System - 78 %, GDI - 90 %, User - 78 %
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 SE
