Title: DVD Playback
Post by: Mako on May 02, 2004, 07:49:07 pm
Hi, I was hoping someone might tell me as to why when I play a DvD w/MC it sometimes appears glitchy(Large pixelated squares, garbled audio etc).  I have updated MC and my Dvd Player(Philips DVD+RW-D28).  Media Center is quite possibly the closest thing to perfect I've ever encountered in the PC world so far, and if I can get my DvD issues resolved I will be very happy.
Thank you ahead of time
Mako

MC uses the installed DirectShow filters for DVD playback, so updating your DVD filter set (from WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.) might help.

Let us know.

Sooo..The saga continues ?
I tried updating my PowerDVD4, but the Cyberlink patch wouldn't allow me to as it told me my PowerDvd was out of date(Thought that's why I was updating), so I uninstalled and installed PowerDvd 5.  Now when I even attempt to right click/play on a Dvd in the Drives and Devices area of MC it crashed to desktop.

Ok, I uninstalled all Cyberlink PowerDvd versions, MC still crashed to desktop when I attempted to play a Dvd.  So I thought I'd try WinDvd Platinum Trial Version, and voila! suddenly MC plays my Dvds like mad, no distortion (audio, video or otherwise).  But a bittersweet ending-Now I am forced to watch the newest Ben Affleck movie my girlfriend rented.
I am hoping/assuming that when this trial WinDVD runs out the decoders etc will still work for MC-I am slowly but surely eliminating every other multimedia program I have(PowerDvd, Winamp, any photoviewer) in favor of Media Center.
