Title: Hard to split files in Media Editor
Post by: bvm on May 05, 2004, 06:12:05 pm
It seems like Media Editor is missing a few little things that would make some common tasks a little easier.  In particular, I find it difficult to do the simple task of splitting a wav file into two files at a very carefully selected point.  To carefully select the point, I have to zoom in.  But then it's impossible to select from that point to the start or end of the file:

* Dragging with the mouse doesn't cause the window to scroll, like most other Windows apps do.

* Going to the start (end) of the file and doing a shift-click doesn't extend the selection.

If either of those things worked, the task would be doable.  I'd especially like the latter to work, since I'll often pick a point and Play, then pick another point, until I'm satisfied with it.  After which I'd like to make a selection from that point to somewhere else, which a shift click would be the natural for in the Windows UI style.

Of course, even nicer would be an operation "split track at selection point", but I'm not that greedy ;)

Am I missing something that would make my life easier?

you could make the other changes too

like remember the Orginal file name, and orginal file format.

And if media editor is already running, and you tell MC to send another file to media editor it will error out.

Come on matt Please?
