I tried to use the Media Editor ver 10.1.44 for the first time tonight. I tried to save a file as an MP3. After writing the temp wav file, it said Lame is not installed and asked if I want to download it. I said no because I have lame_enc.dll in my /windows/system32 directory. Then ME locked up and I had to shut it down from the task manager.
I tried it again and this time I say yes to letting it dl Lame again. This also locked up ME and I get the following error msg: Media Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have tried this 4 times now and it locks up each time. The error report that Windows wants to send home reads:
------------------------------------------------------
AppName: media editor.exe AppVer: 10.1.44.0 ModName: enc_mp3.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000e05a
So:
1. Why doesn't ME use the lame_enc.dll that is already installed?
2. Why can't I download whatever it is that ME wants me to use?

I may be wrong, but I think this was fixed in a recent build. What version are you using? You can copy your system info frmo MC Help and paste it here.
