Title: Failed to load Web Remote Listener?
Post by: TimMedcalf on May 12, 2004, 05:54:35 am
Hi all,

Getting a strange message on startup of media center. I'm not in front of my home PC right now, so i can't say the exact message, but a msgbox pops up with something like Failed to Load Web Remote Listener.

Any ideas whats causing that? I've been messing around with the Media Server (which is cool!) recently so i don't know if i've broken something...or it could be to do with the auto-update checking maybe.

I can't find anything else on the board about this...

I'm running the latest "official" version...i think...or maybe i downloaded a beta one...darn, i really should be doing this from my home PC sholuldn't I? :) I'll post more details tonight if necessary.

You probably have Media Server and Webremote running on the same port.  Two programs normally need two different ports.  Just change one.

Cheers for the reply Jim, but whats WebRemote? Is this something within Meda center?

Oh, and also, i get this message whether media server is running or not. And i've stoppped media server from starting with either windows and/or media center...so surely the conflict shouldn't happen?

It's configured in options/startup.  If you're not using it, just turn it off.  The help file should have a description.  It's used to control MC remotely with a browser or other application.
