The last three times I started to use the Media Center, there were major thunderstorms and the power went out locally for 20,000+ households. Coincidence? Or is the new program just too powerful?

Maybe update your sound card driver. Also, try Windows Update.

Are you saying that Windows Update is somehow tapped into the National Weather Center? No wonder the weather is so messed up here. Is there a way to force a reset?

No problem here, MC's working well on my PC configuration !

But I had to update the display drivers and the power management API from my local power supply provider.
