Title: Questions about multi-zone play - preview
Post by: gpvillamil on May 22, 2004, 10:50:58 pm
I am currently using an external soundcard that provides multiple "virtual soundcards" to the software. (M-Audio Firewire Audiophile - sounds great BTW)

I have successfully set up 2 zones in MC, and can play one back through speakers and another one through headphones.

My question - is there an easy way to send songs from one Zone to another? For example, if I am listening to a song on the headphones in Zone 2, can I send it to Playing Now in Zone 1?

The application, obviously, is DJing, where I can have an active playlist cued up and playing through the main speakers, but I can use the headphones to listen to other songs before adding them to the playlist.

The best bet I can think of is to keep a working playlist open in the Action Window.  Drag files to it as a holding bin, then switch zones and use the files wherever you need.

You can do it all with drag-n-drop and the Action Window will keep the files always within sight and reach.

I see. Then please add "Send to... Zone" as a feature request!

Also the [Zone] token seems to do nothing when configuring a display. (Right click on the "Currently playing area, Configure Display).

It would be helpful to have a more visible indication of what Zone is active, and to be able to rename Zones with a friendly name (eg. Speakers, Headphone).

It works, but shows nothing when you're in the first zone and you didn't name it.  Name all your zones if you always want it to display something.
