Since I want to work with mpeg elementary streams, is there any way I can tell MC that .mp2 files are audio and not video?

Does anyone in J River know the answer to this?

You can either change it manually under
Edit->Tag Info->File Info
or you can rename your files to .mp3. They still play fine, but MC assumes they are Audio

Thanks for that! I'll try the first option, but I'm not sure the second will work as my DVD authoring app expects elementary streams and might not accept the .mp3 extension.

Sorry, I've lost the plot! I get as far as "Tag Info", but I can't see anything about File Info. Where is it, please?

Once you select Tag Info, the Action window in the bottom left should open with Tag Info in it. If you can't see Media Type, it may be collapsed under the File Info bar. Or, you may have to right click on the window and select "Columns to show->Show all fields"
