Yup, that girl can sing.  Glad to see that a non-cookie cutter  was picked - after all it is a popularity contest aimed at the pre-teen and mid -teen market.  Pop has gotten so predictable, they seem to all sound  and look alike so Fantasia is a breath of fresh air - her sound is recognisable, like Aretha, Tracy Chapman, kd lang and others who made  a mark instead of a ripple.  I think I will get her cd when it comes out and hope that the producers don't make her bend to the  all too predictable rift stylings of most of the pop market.

Thanks a lot King for spoiling my Friday night!  It's not shown in the UK until 8.30pm Friday so now all the surprose has gone!  >:(

I watched all the shows from the start and really wanted Latoya London to win but Fantasia would have been my next choice.  It's good to see someone win who's 'different', can sing and has the class to stay around a while.

That didn't happen with the last UK Pop Idol (Michelle) but thankfully Will Young (the best Idol ever) from 2002 is turning out great music.
