Title: Enhancement request
Post by: brain21 on May 28, 2004, 10:40:42 am
Ever since I got media Center for home I have used it exclusively!  I use it at work.  Since I am working while I am using it, it is minimized most of the time to the task bar.

What would be cool is if you could hover your mouse of it on the task bar, it would pop up a little bubble that displays the song title and time elapsed or left.  Winamp does this, for an example.

It would be REALLY nice if you could customize what appears in the popup bubble.  THings like:

Track title
Artist
Album
time elapsed
time remaining
bitrate

etc.

Thanks for "listening"

Either use the playingNow plugin which is a small (or big) box that fade in in the start of each track, or is on all the time. You can pretty much custimize everything in it! Many use playing now pics as their signature.
The new version cost £3 but the older version is free. '

You can also use the 'WritePlaying' plugin which will show the currently playing track - or whatever you would like - on the taskbar instead of Media Center.

If you minimize to the task bar, you can hover and see all the info, except time remaining,

Although I use WritePlaying it does have the downside that the text does not scroll, so long titles or title/artist combinations will be truncated.  Also, it handles only a limited range of tag fields;  for example you can't use Composer.

It's no big deal, but I'm a little surprised that MC does not include such a basic feature as standard.

One of the reason I don't use WritePlaying. The other, and way more annoying thing imo, was that it would create an extra 'task' when you click alt+tab or alt+shift+tab
