SteveG told us some time ago that he works on a plugin for the iRiver (H series).
Is there already more news on this, e.g. when we can expect it ?
-
No update on when this will happen yet. Sorry.
Steve

Any more news about this subject ?
Make all iRiver users happy :P
And some more clarity on the upload settings :(

it's probably not a good idea for steve to start on this until iriver release their new firmware. which is taking so long, i can't see how they could not be implementing major changes!
-
I understand your view. On the other hand, in this fast world we can always wait for new releases. (both hardware & software)
If we would always do that we would be waiting endlessly. New firmware functions can just be implemented or changed.
I will understand if SteveG prefers to wait al little longer to plug in ;D

I just worry that Steve is waiting for a WMDM update!
WMDM didn't work with Jukebox 3 and now it doesn't with iHP-140.
Personally I use playlists very much and seems that only winamp works... :'(
Please Steve, don't let us alone with WinAmp!
-
We don't have an iHP-140 here, but from what I gather from you all, I could create a plugin which would export MC playlists as m3u into a directory on the iHP-140 and the iHP-140 would detect them. This is possible given the time and a iHP-140. I will see if we can do it.

WOW Steve, this is a very good news! ;D
I think that it could be useful to 'Rearrange Upload Folders' by 'Playlists. Because we could have more control on synchronization action.
Every playlist in one different folder; is it hard to do?
Thanks

Not necessarily, but I have to determine where playlists need to be on the IHP-140 so that the player can recognize them.

That would be awesome Steve. I know that there are still a LOT of people waiting for full MC support for their IHP's over at Mistic River (http://www.misticriver.net) and of course a lot more than that who are not MC owners and would most likely be if we had the support. IMO, no other program is quite as balanced and/or polished as MC. The IHP support is the only thing holding people back from spending the cash for registration IMO.
If you need something specific from the Iriver devs, please let me know, and I will tell Jeff. I will also try and use the one person I know to try and pull some strings...just say the word.

I echo Doug/SweetSpot's comment that iRiver iHP users are anxiously awaiting Media Center's full support. Any idea when? I'm anxious to plunk down my money for MC10! I like the demo version but...

Steve
Well, playlists can be everywhere on the IHP-140, in root or in folders with or without their files on the list. :D

;D Playlists after all ;D
This is very good news. Playlists can already be made but it does not work yet on the iHP-140.
Don't forget to help us with the ability to rename files to be uploaded. Rename files from properties could also be adressed when uploading. (the 52 character limitation)
As a start for the plug-in the playlist support is great. I think it's not even that much work.

Just for now playlists need be made with winamp to work. :-[

As an iHP-120 owner, I eagerly await the day when I can fully use MC10 with my iRiver player.

Actually, you don't need winamp exclusively to make playlists. I've used several different media players/programs to do it. Just so happens that MC doesn't cooperate in that way for some reason. Another program that has problems but is in NO WAY compareable to MC is Music Match...blech.. :)

MC can export to M3U from the File > Export Playlist menu.
Do the paths need to be relative, or what's the problem?

I totally agree with you Wintings! ;)

Matt & Steve, the playlists we need are terrible to read and very different to those made by MC...
Here you can get two of them working:
- The first playlist (Italy) is in the same folder as its files: Root\Italy
Italy (http://www.airsquit.it/pub/mediacenter/Italy.m3u) (use 'Save As' to download)
- The second playlist (Nuove) is in the root, but its files are in a folder: Root\Nuove
Nuove (http://www.airsquit.it/pub/mediacenter/Nuove.m3u) (use 'Save As' to download)
I hope that these may help to understand ::)

This sequence works and the iHP-140 does recognize it as a playlist. Only problem is that it does not work to play the files which are actually in the list.
Another thing I don't understand is why there isn't some more cooperation between parties like iRiver, JRiver and Mistic River.
Sounds so strange to me :o
MarSies .....

There has been some cooperation between J River, MisticRiver and iRiver. iRiver have been in contact with J River. We're all just waiting for J River to develop things further. ;D
-
:-\ :-\ :-\
When will we get the new firmware from JRiver?
-
Jeff,
If you can email me the name of whoever has been in contact with us from iRiver, I will gladly try to get the ball rolling again. As far as I know they have not been in contact with us.
steve @ jriver.com
MarSies,
Once we talk to them, we can start to get moving.

The H Seriers (my H140) scans the HD during boot up. Any .m3u files found on the drive are accesable from the UI. I put my playlists in the root, but they can be anywhere.
The exported .m3u files from MC 10 work fine on the H140, but I have to first manual edit the paths in the .m3u to be relative.
-
new plugin is out, geddit whilst it's hot!!
-
The last message indicate's there's a new plug-in for the iriver H series. Is this true? I can't find anything in the plug-n download area.
-
dick,
No plugin is necessary with MC 11. Please get the latest version of MC 11 and post if you have difficulties.
Thanks.

I'm sorry to say that ".m3u file path" is not fixed for iRiver H-140 in MC 11.0184.
The dot at the beginning of the path gets an error and .m3u isn't playable.
If I cut it off, the playlist becomes readable.
The last MC version working fine with H-140 playlist remain 11.0168

Stefano,
I replied in the other thread.
I will close this one.
