what are the benefits of media server

Media Server is a program under Tools/Advanced.  It has settings of its own.

MC can then connect to it from another PC.  Go to File/Library/Library Manager.

You should find info in MC's Help.

where is documentation on media server the help info is not enough is there a place where it says all what it does

The Help is pretty good.  Are you sure you've found the right section?

What version of MC are you using?

What do you need to know?

what are the capabilities of the server do you support any of the hardware  based media clients that connect to a home theater

We support TiVo's HMO, and there's support for Sony's RoomLink. I'm working on other clients.
