MC 10 seems to be winding down, sooo... I was wondering if that means that MC 11 might be near ?
-
No. But thanks for asking.
No information is available.
-
Awww... shucks :'(

MC 10 seems to be winding down,
Less than 3 months and you already feel that MC10 is "winding down"? Now that's what I call upgrade fever.

"upgrade fever"... :P
A little bug we software "geeks" get from time to time.
It's only that MC 10 seems to be close to "finished" as I am not seeing as many new updates or as many "fixes" per update as there was. Sooo... it seems to be winding down. 8)
That is, I assume... until the "BIG NEWS" breaks (whatever that is).
-
I guess I'm old school -- I enjoy NOT having to upgrade for a while.

Me too...
I can hold out for sometimes up to as much as say...
2 or 3 days ::) ::)

I thought it was pong! ;D
-
Pong was a side note... fun, but just a side note.
The BIG NEWS is still to come 8)
Only JimH knows for sure what it is & when it will be announced.
My hope is that it will add some more really neat features to MC, then we can move on to MC11... Yippi ;D
-
Try 5 days since the last build. JRiver is REALLY being schtum and sod all.

Have you noticed the build numbers, its only like 10.0.145..
MC9 went on to 9.1.316 (and then 319)
We are still less than nearly half way through 10.
Of course comparing the present to the previous is no guarantee for the future but might give a "slight" indication of length of version life cycle which seems to be about a year/version.
-
Also, MC9 had a lot more problems to be resolved as there were many more new items added that had to be debugged.
The change from MJ8 to MC9 was a big one, the change from MC9 to MC10 was not as big, sooo.... fewer problems.
When MC9 was at the .145 level in its development, there were many changes each day.
MC10, to me, seems to be winding down... fewer daily updates & many fewer changes per update. That is a sign of a "finished" product.
That is, unless the BIG NEWS changes all that with something really new & nifty :o

Would JRiver being on vacation explain the last two weeks being slow ?
A well deserved vacaction too, i might add. I recall there were daily builds prior to that.
Also in terms of new features, i see v10 as a more solid v9. But compared to v9, i think there is more to come.
The big news from what i can gather (and some guessing) from reading Interact is SBC (Some big company) wants to rebadge (a scaled down, possible free) version of MC as their own. SBC already have a music store of their own and want to offer MC as an incentive to use said store. An alternative if you will to what Apple is already doing with iTunes.
Its possible that the slower pace in v10 is due to work on this other version of MC and the issues that brings integrating with SBC's store.
-
Yes, I read it the same way.
Reading between the lines of all the MC threads it would seem that MC10 is not yet final, that some BIG NEWS will add another dimension to MC.
Right now it is anybody's guess what it might be.
Either way, it can only boost MC into higher territory.
