Hi All - I've searched but cannot find an answer to the following: Running MC 9.1.319 on XP Pro SP1 and would like to keep copies of my library on both my PC and an external USB HDD. Obviously, managing both manually to ensure they align is a nightmare, so I'm looking for a synchronization method. Is there a function in MC or 3rd Party tool to sync any changes between the two libraries whenever the external drive is connected? Unfortunately, I just lost 3000 titles from my internal drive and wish I would have had all of these backed up - or synchronized - to my external drive. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! ::)

I use SureSync myself. Another app I have used is SmartSync Pro.
Both do a good job, both can run as a service so you don't have to be logged in for the sync to run.
Take a look at both, one is sure to meet your needs.

Hi
Like GHammer I rely on an external utility to sync my USB backup.
I used to sync it with TotalCommander but I recently found an amazing smart little "donateware" called SyncBack.

Try Jukebox Synchronizer (download on http://www.cflashsoft.com/jbsynch.htm). It is developed for an Archos Jukebox, but it should work with any USB external drive. There is even an ipod module.
And... its free.

You folks Rock! Thanks for all the great recommendations!! It appears there is no integrated syncronization solution - yet. Maybe we'll see this in future releases? ;-) Peace All!

Does it handle files other than MP3?

It does. All files in a directory and it's subdirectories are synchronised but you can exclude centain file types.
Why not try it for yourself. It don't have to be an external drive. Any drive will do. Or two directories on the same drive.

Alas, the web server they are on has ran afoul of the Great Firewall and can't be reached from here.

The files are on another site. Try the link http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?9000000036346 for downloading Jukebox Synchronizer.

Hi cisilay,
Look to the "MirrorFolder" also !
Just tried it today and I can tell it's reallly great. The UI especially is really nicely embedded into XP. No wonder they call it a "setup and forget" kind of software.
thanks for the suggestion,
Christian

By far more flexible, a few years of experience, very fast. And - last but not least - for a few dollars less:
