Title: Media Server Can't Stream APL?
Post by: gbdesai on June 09, 2004, 08:44:02 pm
I just started using the APL format to manage my music.  I just noticed that Media Server won't stream APL files.  Is that by design, not implemented, or broken?  Other files including APE, MP3, MPC, and WMA seem to stream fine.  I am using Media Center 10.145 on all systems.

It's a limitation of APL.

Maybe in a future version of Monkey's Audio I'll code a workaround for this into the APE SDK.

Remember that with APE and a secure ripper like MC, the output will be bit-for-bit the same whether you use APL or rip to individual APE files.

Thanks.

Thanks Matt.  It's not that important right now, since I duplicate my collection into VBR MP3 anyway for mass consumption and streaming through the home.  I originally ripped my entire collection using Media Center and lost the drive in a power related incident (ironic that the DVDs I bought to backup the drive arrived the next day).  This time I decided to rip to a single file with CUEs.  Anyway, thanks for your help.
