Title: DSP/5.1 Problem
Post by: Kysira on June 24, 2004, 04:25:28 pm
Hi,
I just tried out the Media Center. Till now it seemed really great, but now I have a problem.
I have a 5.1 sound card with 6 speakers. I'd like to hear my music from all of them, not only the small front speakers. So I tried to activate the 5.1 sound in DSP Studio.
Now the sound comes from all speakers, but I noticed that the sound from my rear speakers is really scrambled and a bit dull,  a bit like underwater.
Does anybody know a possible reason for this? Or is there a possibility to hear sound on all speakers without using the DSP studio?
I'm really desperate, because this is the first player I found which has all features I looked for (including 5.1....)
Thanks in advance!

Rear speakers are for ambiance, so less sound will come out of them.

There may be more configuration options for JRSS in the next version of MC.

Thanks Kysira.

(p.s. some soundcard drivers also do 2 -> 5.1 channel mixing, so dig around there if you want something other than JRSS)

It's not that it's LESS sound, but it's scrambled. It's odd, and difficult to explain. Just as if some data is missing. On and off, fast.
I don't have these problems in other programs as Windows Media player.

I've also noticed some weird sound from the rear speakers; seems to depend on the sound source... some will sound ok & others sound really bad, almost a false electronic unnatural sound like it is cycling or something.

Would really, really like to see true Dolby Surround sound.
