Title: Can't find CD info
Post by: skylarplane on June 29, 2004, 09:15:53 pm
When I'm ripping a CD down to my laptop, in this case its Alan Jackson's Greatest Hits Volume II, it can't find the necessary data on the searching site.  How do I tell it what it is so it can download the necessary information.

Thanks, Skylar ?

Again today, when I was loading a CD, because MC10 doesn't use multiple info data bases, sometimes the information can't be found on the only one that they use YAAD(B?).  They should be searching multiples like the others do.
I finally had to load it with another player software that found the details on the CD, then had to load it to MC10.  There should be multiple DBs to search on automatically.

Skylar.

can you point to a product that uses more than one?

I would be interested, I have never seen a program that does this.

The Godfather offers a search of Freedb or AMG.

I find YADB Ok for lookups if I'm looking up while ripping the original CD.  If I've already ripped the CD with names like Track01, Track02 YADB NEVERcomes up trumps even though album and artist info is correct.  Use the Godfather and I get a result everytime.

Surprisingly, Microsoft Windows Media does an exceptional job of collecting a lot of information about a CD.  You should just take anyone you have and you'll see a lot of great info that load.  If it can find it, it will even give you the songwriter to each piece of music.

My other CD Library software Collectorz.com also does a very good job of searching several DBs to find the necessary details of a CD.

MC needs to add additional DBs to search since not just one has all details of every CD that's out there.
