Title: Dragyn's library problem with MC 11 alpha
Post by: Dragyn on July 06, 2004, 06:45:21 pm
this is a no go for me. it's still trying to load the database.

were there any changes made since 11 to the database? I never did install 12.

Did it mention that it found a database at an old location?  This install wants the database in [User]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Database.

If it finds an old database, it should offer to move it to the new location.  With a very large database, it could take a while.

Well I don't know about that. I have my library on a different drive because it has more space. Having it use [User] would mean using a smaller drive. My library is in the GB with all the thumbs created.

I guess it's doing something weird because it never asked to move anything. I started from scratch with an empty library and added the one I was using through the Library Manager. It will start OK with an empty one...the one in the user directory.

I have process explorer running and I'm noticing it's going through the thumbnail directory because it's accessing thumbnail images. I can see it going through each sub directory of the thumbnail directory.

when I switched libraries, it wasn't in thumbnail mode at the time.

You can still keep the library anywhere you want.

It's just after install of this new verison, MC will default to a blank library at the new location.  If there's an old library it can find, it'll ask if you want to use it.  It doesn't copy the thumbs over, so it shouldn't take too long.

From then out, MC will remember whatever you configure in Library Manager.

It's gotta be the thumnail directory. I renamed it to Thumnails2 and it recreated the original Thumnail directory and loaded right up.

Something is going on. Must have too many thumbnails. 11.0.11 was working fine.

After I loaded it, I exited and renamed the directory back and now everything loads fine. I don't know what happened. I had to kill the process a few times because it would just not load up.

Maybe it has something to do when loading the database for the first time? I dunno.. Could just have been a glitch or something.
