I have been playing with this cool feature and have some questions:
1) This seems to be a temporary sync. That is if I stop or go to the next track in either the "source" of "synced" zone they are no longer in sync. Are there plans to make this a more permanent sync?
2) Will there be windows messages to directly do the syncing (like those for direct zone playback control, etc.)? Are there plans to add controls for the syncing from Theater View?
Thanks. I love this feature!

Zone sync was introduced here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=22082;start=msg153952#msg153952
There is also more on zones on Mastiff's home page which you can find in the FAQ near the top of this board.

Thanks for the links, but the specific questions I have above about zone syncing are not addressed.

Sorry, I just added the link so others would know what zone synch is about.

Not currently. A hardware splitter is the easiest "permanent sync."

Sounds reasonable. Remind us once in a while until it's how you want it.
Thanks.

Ok, thanks.
I guess I could make this a "permanent sync" by using Girder if there were Windows messages to support syncing. So, maybe SyncTo and SyncFrom messages with the parameter being the zone number (like the switch to zone now). Then another message being SyncToAllZones.
I see the Theater View controls emulating the Playback Options menu (much like the Display Options currently in Theater View). So, maybe a "Playback Options" button that takes you to a screen with "Zone" and "Sync" buttons. The zone button takes you to a screen where you can select the current zone and the Sync button takes you to a screen where you can select all the SyncTo, SyncFrom, and SyncAll possibilities.

Not currently. A hardware splitter is the easiest "permanent sync."
What kind of hardware splitter are we talking about here?
Would this work if you have an analogue onboard sound output and an ASIO spdif output in zone 1 and 2.
Thanks.

I just meant a $3 Y-cable.
I think you can also buy fancy routing switches, but I'm not sure what they cost.

Any progress on zone synch control via Windows messages?

Just a friendly reminder that I would still like to see these in MC 11. Hopefully they're still on your list.

I would also like to add my support for those 2 features.
Thanks for the great software.

Hi All,
Just wanted to say that it was the support for multiple zones which attracted me to Media Centre in the first place, so any improvement in this area gets my vote. I can't wait to try the sync-ing in V11, i might be able to get rid of the bank of switches i have out the back of my PC! Please consider developing permanent sync, this is what i really want, and i would consider moving to any software which was first to offer it.
cheers

I see you added zone sync in Theater View - perfect. Any progress on zone sync via windows messages? As I said before, I think we could simulate "permanent sync" with Girder if this was supported through messages. Thanks.
