When I select Tools>Options, it takes ~30 seconds for the options window to appear.
I noticed this was happening in MC 9.1 and I just upgraded to MC 10 and the problem persists (seemingly even slower).
No other windows in MC are slow, just Options. I have about 10,000 songs in my libarary -- could this be the problem?

so how fast is your computer?
I doubt the database is the problem.
but look at the bottom and see if it is saving data at the time.

Well it is true, the options screen was always slower than the rest of MC.
It was very slow with MC8 and MC9, better with 10 and still better with MC11, but there is always some delay with it. Don't really know why!
But also never really complained, as you rarely use it once MC is set.

While not the fastest on the market, it is a reasonably fast machine (with a lot of memory):
Intel Pentium 4 2775 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 1048 MB, Free - 471 MB
I have to believe that it is something with MC (or its config on my machine) and not my hardware.

You may have a CD drive in PIO mode. Try a search here and on google for PIO problems.

This article seems to have the scoop on getting back to DMA from PIO and preventing windows from sneaking you back into PIO....haven't determined yet if it makes Options faster.....more later....

It turns out I did have the "PIO" problem and I successfully fixed it. Unfortunately, it made no different for the load-time of Options within MC....still takes 30 seconds (!) for that window to load.
Does anyone know what that window may be doing before it loads (besides checking the CD/DVD devices) that would be slowing it down?

no but your image
