Title: Registration problem
Post by: Bucko on July 25, 2004, 04:55:29 am
Hi

I had to do a clean install of my computer recently and rather than re-install media centre 9 I went straight for the trial of 10. Now, I want to purchase 10 at the discounted rate (since I already paid for 9) How do I do that? When I try to purchase 10 it does not give me the option of paying for an upgrade from 9.

Also I tried to restore my licence through 10, by going to the website, putting in my email etc and nothing happened, is this normal?

If i am not mistaken, you must install mc9, register it, then install mc10, then you should have an option to upgrade.

You must install MC 9 and restore the license first. The license information is buried deep in the system. So if you did a clean OS installation there is no sign of your earlier registration.

Backup your current library if still possible (I don't know if you can do that if the trial period already expired). Uninstall MC 10. Install MC 9 and restore your license. Install MC 10 on top of it and buy the upgrade. Restore your library backup.

If the trial period expired and it is not possible to backup library I would try to install MC 9 directly on top of MC 10. Though I don't know if that is possible.
