Title: "disconnected" files in library... how do I find and/or reconnect them?
Post by: jeffspl311 on July 25, 2004, 07:44:21 pm
If I've made an out-of-band change to the folder structure of my music library, then Media Center doesn't seem to be able to track that and displays little white document icons with red "X"s on them. Questions:

1. Given that I have to make out of band reorganizations, can MC be made to re-sync with the moved files? I envision some kind of library import option... "update file locations for lost files" or something like that.

2. Is there a way to simply do a search to find all the broken file references in the library. I could just as easily delete them all and do a fresh import.

1. You can use Tools -> Library Tools -> Find and Replace for that. Tick only Filename or Filename (path) there. You can replace e.g. C:\Music\Old\ with D:\Music\New\.

2. File -> Library -> Update Library. Read the Help there first.
