Title: Universal Plug and Play protocol
Post by: olos11 on August 03, 2004, 08:18:08 pm
Is MC 10 using the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) protocol?
I wanna buy the Philips MX6000i streamium home cinema set, which uses software from Philips to play music, movies etc on the TV stored on the PC.
In stead of the Philips SW I wanna use MC 11, this is possible -according to Philips- when MC supports the UPnP protocol. Can anyone advise? Tnx.

Yes, MC supports UPnP but it isn't enough of a standard (yet) that devices will work with it.  It's not likely to work.

It does? That's exciting. The Java-based DVArchive (predates Tivo's HMO and slays it) uses uPnP to both imitate a ReplayTV unit on a network and to control other networked ReplayTVs. I'd love to see ReplayTV supported within MC. Maybe v11?
