We're still working on Media Center 11. We appreciate your feedback on it, but MC11 may not work as expected and we can't yet fully support it. When upgrading from MC 10, you will lose your settings. Some plugins still do not work.
If you want a more trouble-free experience, please download Media Center 10 here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html
Media Center 11 is available here:

11.0.64 (8/19/04)
1. NEW: View schemes can be configured to show or not show in Theater View.
2. Changed: Simplified the display names of the year, month, and day fields.
3. Changed: 'All' listing in panes, tree, and Theater View includes field name.
4. Changed: Tweaked some wordings in Theater View.
5. Changed: Starting playback with 'Enter' in Theater View wouldn't always show the "Starting playback..." message.
6. NEW: Introduced new keyboard / remote navigation model for Theater View that doesn't mix left / right with page switching.
7. Fixed: Switching away from a tile view could cause a crash.
8. Fixed: Access Control settings were not being saved between sessions.
11.0.63 (8/18/04)
1. Fixed: Smartlist selection dialog would show an extra checked empty value when <empty> was selected.
2. Fixed: Drag-n-drop of subfolders with periods in them would not always work properly.
3. Changed: Column auto-sizing enlarges columns when their ideal widths don't fill the view.
4. Changed: Changed Import's 'Analyzing Library' status reporting to be less confusing.
5. Changed: Portable devices will match files with MC based on 'Album Artist(Auto)' field rather than 'Artist'. Album Artist(Auto) will populate the 'Artist' filed on devices after a transfer or sync.
6. Fixed: File associations would not be set on a clean install.
7. Fixed: Switching from windowed to fullscreen view could leave the windowed icon in the tray.
8. Changed: Cancel button would be disabled during the import stage of the import & update system.
9. Fixed: After removing a file, MC would allow that file to be added to the database multiple times until a restart.
10. Fixed: When using the WMP video playback engine, fast forward and rewind would not function properly.
11. NEW: Several search bar / smartlist enhancements. (improved formatting, improved truncate logic, update menu layout, etc.)
12. NEW: Updated 'Devices' options page to use the new options system.
13. NEW: Updated 'Startup' options page to use the new options system.
14. Changed: Showing a split view requires Shift+Ctrl when clicking a tree item instead of just Ctrl. (still a temporary system)

I guess you know that when control, shift clicking to show playing now and the panes, you cant get back to having them seperate without restarting the program right?
I have a suggestion regarding the pop-up tracklist that appears when you hover over an album thumbnail. Make the the tracks in the list clickable, like html links.
Also, how do you change/configure the tile view?
-
Don't you guy's ever go home?
Requests:
**Can you please add .csv to the supported list. It opens with MS Excell.
**Be able to have the EQ always visible in MegaMe
**Be able to change the tool tip fonts and background color... Would love to be able to use the ThunderStorm windowblinds skin again.
**Any way for you guys to be able to let us specify different Import locations for each library
**Can we be able to view www.last.fm from within MC. This is for the AudioScrobbler Plugin.

We're still thinking about how to lace this in. For now, start and stop a burn in the AW to close the split pane.
I have a suggestion regarding the pop-up tracklist that appears when you hover over an album thumbnail. Make the the tracks in the list clickable, like html links.
It's tricky because tooltips close when you move the mouse.
Also, how do you change/configure the tile view?
There's a template in the MC\Data\Tile Templates folder. In the future, you'll probably be able to have multiple templates.
Please share if you make anything good.

File associations are still being stolen.

File associations are still being stolen.
Did you try setting one?

>3. Changed: 'All' listing in panes, tree, and Theater View includes field name.
This is great but doesn't work with plural names.
Events -> Eventss
Places -> Placess
Maybe just the fields should be singular. Event, Place, etc.
Edit:
Drive D:\ -> Ds:\
D:\Audio\ -> D:\Audios\
Edit 2:
This also affects file lists too because there is no "D:\Audios\" directory.
-
Did you try setting one?
I turned them all off. You are saying I have to set one to MC? Not sure I agree that it should be necessary, but I'll try it.
-
I set jmx to default in MC (that shouldn't cause me any issues) and it no longer stole associations.
-
>1. NEW: View schemes can be configured to show or not show in Theater View.
Unchecking a main view scheme (ie: Images), the pane setups still show. I know about the 'config theater' option but that's not what I'm talking about.
Images (Year, Month, Day)
-Rating (Whatever)
Images
Rating 2000 2001 2002 etc
words in italics, according to setup, shouldn't be there.
-
Right-clicking a non-selected view scheme shows then hides menu.
Observations
'3D Visualizations Images' playlist should really come with MC, like the other ones. First time I type it, it had spelling mistakes and of course, it didn't work. But it now works and it's pretty cool I think.
-
OK
How do you get split panes (or multi panes) for playing now and library?
This is driving me crazy. I can find no documentation and I understand it has something to do with shift control. But I have tried everything.
I think one of the best new features is the ability to see multi views.... but I am not able as I do not know the secret handshake.
I reviewed the MC11 imporvements. Lots of good stuff, but I don't have a clue as how to use it...... The document needs some drill down.
-
The documentation won't be changed till 11 goes gold...
This is from the the 11.0.63 thread and it is also mentioned on this thread under 11.0.63 changes
14. Changed: Showing a split view requires Shift+Ctrl when clicking a tree item instead of just Ctrl. (still a temporary system)
-
MC11 does not seem to work as yet with Nomad Zen. Is it to early yet to be using the handhelds on MC11?
I am running MC11.63
-
Clicking "Drives & Devices" in the tree causes either MC to crash or a complete system reset. Any ideas?
Ed.

Please try build 64. A similar bug was fixed.
-
I deleted my library and re-imported from scratch with this build, and noticed that the import process was really slow for about the first 2000-3000 files, after which it seemed to accelerate.
During the time that the import was slow, CPU usage by MC was around 90%, when the import sped up, CPU usage had dropped to around 40-50%.
Weird huh?

Minor little issue. The Name field is supposed to be a string yes?
Currently if I have a title that appears to be a number it seems to auto format it as such. Therefore the name ".3" is always rendered as "0.3". (a real example as ".3" is a song in the Porcupine Tree "In Absentia" album.)

In .63 and .64 I've noticed on both computers that it takes several seconds (and random mouse clicks it seems) for Media Center to show up in the application list in Windows' taskbar. If you open MC11 and immediately minimize it, the only way to find it again is through task manager, where it shows up as a running application. Once it's in the taskbar I don't believe it goes away until you exit and re-run.

If there are extra . in the name or path, it will not convert.
Ex.. Album Wasted Years...Stranger in A Strange Land will not convert until I change it to Wasted Years Stranger in A Strange Land
I'm trying to convert a ton of tracks to take to work and I have to rename, convert then change the name back... ::)

Sort with numbers in artist name
Hello, I have observed this error in MC 11. I have a artist/group that is called "091", that is to say, all the name like numbers.
But when when imnport the data base and new archives of this group, MC index the name clearing leading zero, leaving the name of the group like "91".
This did not happen with MC 10.

1. Photoshop psd file thumbnails are really tiny in thumbnail view (even smaller than in the tooltips), no matter how large I set the thumbnails. FWIW, this is in contrast with the size of the thumnails as shown in Windows Explorer.
2. Still not sure if the view scheme filter column widths (duno what they are called) are supposed to be auto sized in v11. I thought they were but couldnt find a reference on the board. So FWIW they arent on my install - they are equally sized.
3. When using the search box at the top right, it filters OK as I type, but sometimes if I hold down backspace to delete my typing quickly, the filter gets stuck and still shows the filtered items rather than the whole library, even though the search box is clear of any entry. Its like the filtering cant keep up with the speed of the deletion.
-
My request wishlist:
- Since a new backup is created on each import, can we set the number of MAX Backups to retain?
- [Date (Month #)] Field -- Please ?
- Using [Dimensions] (Calculated Field) in a thumbnail view shows "CIRCULAR: Dimensions" instead.
- Media Server -- Allow us to select which fields are included, if I elimiinate Lyrics/Bios I can reduce the downlaod size by about 80% !!!
- Full EXIF Parsing Support -- To allow custom field creation from these tags, as well.
- On Duplicate checking, allow a "Selection~" tag so that I can select the Low Bitrate, or Smallest Filesize, or Oldest File, etc
- A new version of the SlideShow plugin that works with V11 would be sweet !
- A new version of the Tempo & Pitch Control DSP Plugin for 11.0 builds
- Auto-Import Functionality (Use Media Scheduler to import basedon the new intelligent import wizard)
- CD+G Support Plugin!
- VOB Playback Support (if there is such, let me know)
BUGS:
IMPORT causes MP3s without Date (Year) values to be populated with todays date
When using Media Server on my LAN, playback of songs occurs at a faster-than-normal rate (ie, 38 seconds of song in 30 seconds) ... I noticed the "chipmunk effect' just slightly during a song and started watching the times .. I checked multiple songs.
-
MC seems to have reverted to importing from 'Entire Computer' rather than to use the folders I had selected (it actually lost my folder list).
On another front, thre Action Window scrolls in a way that makes it very difficult to read . . . it scrolls rather jerky (especially using a mouse wheel to scroll) and looks like it has gone much further than it has as a result. This causes difficulty seeking particular tag fields in the A/W.
Otherwise, running well.
-
Whenever I run "Synchronize" on my handheld (iPod), I get the "Media Center was unable to initialize the handheld..."
Just to be sure, I went back in and intialized my iPod using the 11 - 64 build, and it still gives me the same error. All other transfer functionality works. I know this will get moved to HandHeld support, but I thought I'd throw it in here for ideas.
-
Created a new user without administrative rights, logged in and imported files into a specific library for this user. Works ok, but MC11 reports every 30 seconds or so the following error and then crashes:
"Media Center has encountered critical error #21. Some essential component is missing or corrupted. Please uninstall and reinstall the latest version of Media CEnter. If this error persists report it to JRiver."
This does not happen on my regular "Jaguu" account with administrative rights!
