Title: intelligent re tagging of files pleaseeeee help.
Post by: mooz on August 20, 2004, 09:41:28 am
hi all,

i have a relativly large collection that i need to sorrt the tags out on.

now my audio collection is set out as follows.

x:\artist albums\artist\album\<poss cd 1,2 etc>\track - title.mp3
x:\compilation albums\type\album\<poss cd 1,2 etc>\track - title.mp3

now all my media is formatted in this way and the filenames are correct. so ... is there anyway i can use this information as the basis for an import instead of id3 info, or ... is there a smart way to update the id3 based on this format and layout .....

any help would be much appreciated....

thanks

MC > Tools > Library Tools > Fill Properties From Filenames

The help file has some info and examples if anything isn't clear.

Thanks :)

thats great but for example ...

not all albums have a CD 1 level.   only those with more than one CD ....

is there a way to have an optional part of that update?

Just limit the rename to -filename=CD1 or whatever to do half the batch ... then change for the other half :)
