when converting an audio file from CD staright to an MP3, I find the MP3 created skips, like a scratched CD... no, it's not a scratched CD. Anyone have any suggestion?

Could be any of the following:
1. Bad CD pressing
2. Damaged/scratched CD surface
3. You've got some other application/process going that is interrupting (however briefly) the rip/encoding process.
If it is 1 or 2 change in Settings>Options>Device Settings>Audio CD Copy>Copy Mode to either Digital Error Correcting or Digital Secure.
If it is 3 then don't run anything CPU intensive (even Internet surfing qualifies) while ripping/encoding.

Thanks Xenno, certainly not 1or2 as these are new clean CD's and from different sources. perhaps another other program is corrupting the process. Will try what ou suggested

If you have this problem on EVERY CD you try, then you can say that it's not 1 or 2. Until then, you can't rule out 1 since the flaws are not visible to the eye. It probably is 3. If problem continues then post your Help>System Info.
You may want to try my solution for 1 & 2 regardless. It may help.
