Title: Moving my Mp3s
Post by: gumsh on August 29, 2004, 10:51:41 pm
I Want to move/rename the Directory in which all my Files are Saved.
The Problem is that i have about 400 Playlists Sorted in Media Center, sometimes 5 Subcategories. Well is there a Possibility to Move my Mp3s wothout loosing the Structure of my Playlists, on which I worked very hard.

I tried to Replace the Folder name in the mediafiles.jmd created in a backup, but that didnt do the trick. Media Center denied to Import the edited Backup.

Library Tools > Find And Replace > Filename > D:\My Music\ with E:\My Music  *

*Replace with whatever your directory names are.

MC will automatically update your playlists.

I'm a big fan of using "Rename from file properties" for this kind of stuff.  Select all you MP3 files, right click, then:

Library Tools -> Rename Files from Properties.

Select the new base path for your files/dirs and naming rules and you're done!  Playlists remain intact, the world remains a happy place.

Of course, this relies on your basic tags being correct....

This is one of those areas where MC's tools are amazingly powerful. :)

And also one of the questions that keeps popping up again and again. What happened to searching the forum?  ;)
