I have D5 Media Server software (for streaming to a GoVideo networked DVD player). When this is running, MC's Media Server will not start, it reports that Media Server is already running. As far as I can see D5 is not listening on 8079 or 2190 (indeed the TiVo native desktop software works at the same time as the D5 stuff).
Are you using a licensed version of D5 ? I'm assuming not.
If not, can you tell me what checks MS does at startup to determine it's own presence ??
I'd like both to be able to cooperate if possible, as I only really want one media server system on my network.
BTW: This happens whether using Port 80 or 8079 for the TiVo server - and with 'Automatic port selection' set in the network tab.
Thanks!

Which version are you using (help->system info, post it here)?
I made some changes to this recently that may be causing the problem (or fixing it if you have an older version).

11.0.72 of MC - did you want the D5 revision (that's back home).
I tested MC10 though, it did the same - and all builds I've tried of 11 have this behavior. Is there a single cause of that message, or multiple possibilities ? D5 seems to listen on numerous ports (probably because it is used by so many different vendors) - some low ones, but pairs all the way up to 49xxx ?

It's not port usage. It''s a name conflict (Media Server). I think I have a fix, and it should be in the next build.

Still fails in build 78 - MS 11.0.14 :(

Sorry - it didn't make it into the build. Try the next one.
