hi guys!
a few weeks ago i raised the issue of alot of my files that got changed by MC from the original dates to 2004 (aobut 25-30,000 files!!) . J.river so far havnt found a solution to this so i was wondering if anyone knew of a prog that only searches dates for albums and fixes the tages of each album (it can also be a program that changes all the tages but i want it to chage only the date tages automaticly).
thx alot

Try this on a few files:
Library Tools/Update Library from Tags
It's possible that the tags are still good and that this will fix it.

thx jimH for the answer!
I have done that when it first started..it dosent help MC somehow changed the tags in the files itself... :'( there was a thread here a few weeks ago about this and it seems that it happend to other guys as well. im not sure if it will ever be reverseble in any way but it should be checked out since me and alot of other guys lost alot of time after tagging so many files and id hate to see it happen to other people

What version are you using?
The problem you're talking about was something that was created in one beta release and fixed the next day.
Are your photos stored in directories by date?

JimH
im using the latest alpha v.11 (just upgraded 3 days ago :) ) . as you said the date change happend a few weeks ago. i dont think the date change has anything to do with photos since i have little of them. my collection is mainly mp3. thx again for the answers. i hope there will be an answer for this in the future.

Zeltak,
Do you have a backup of your MP3 library (File-Library-Backup Library)? If so, you could just restore the library to a date just before the "incident".
I backup the library every time I import something new. That way, I can restore my library to the state it was on any perticular day in the past.

dragyn, it changed all the dates mentiond (exept date imported and date modified) it changed it all to 2004 (or more specific 1.1.2004). it happened a few weeks ago (there is a thread on in in which other people expirienced the same thing).
thx for the help

zeltak,
I just though of something. You may have a backup after all! If you imported anything before the "incident", then the import process would have backed up your library. This is a new feature that was added to MC 11. I'm not sure where that backup is stored, but it's worth looking into.

Zeltak,
If you search in
C:\Documents and Settings\(insert your user name)\Application Data\J River\Media Center 11\Library Backups
you will find all of the automatic backups created by MC evertime it imports.
Actually, I need to go do a cleanup in there, there's 3 GB of backup files in there... LOL!

Too bad...
But if that's the case, it may means that the date chage came from something else than MC... MC has been doing these automatic backups when importing since the begining of August at least. My first backups in that folder were dated August 1st 2004.
Have you used some other utility maybe?
Good luck!
Michel.
