Title: RED X in Images
Post by: sammeee on September 08, 2004, 09:34:18 pm
 :)

Uh I feel like htis must be a simple problem but I have search to long so thought i would just ask.

In my image library I have many thumbnails with a big red X.  This is from past catologing and I moved or deleted the photos.

Is there a "QUICK" way to delete all of these thumbnails?  Up till now I have to search choose individually each one.  What a pain!!

Thanks for help folks

Sammy

MC 10: File > Library > Update Library...
MC 11: Import (make sure "Fix broken links" is selected)

I haven't tried this yet, but does Import / "Fix broken links"  just fix the links or does it import AND fix the links?

I don't like those red x's. MC takes a performance hit.

Browse a large list of thumbs, you'll see it stutter. Once you browsed the whole list, it's blazing fast. (thumbs images are already created.)

Maybe it's a bug? Does MC look for existent files everytime? How about an option for those that don't move anything and our library is always up-to-date? or maybe increase the wait time before displaying the x's

Yes.
If you have multiple locations for storing your media files (one for image, another for music...) you will have use it several times in order to fix all your broken links. :-\

just once. it doesn't matter what directory you choose, it will fix everything.

I suppose MC needs to load the thumbnails from disk to memory...that could slow down a lot.
If the shutter is due to the checking of missing files, it's a good idea to make this chek optional...

Add all your directories to the import dialog.

This is important because broken links that can't be fixed will be removed.
