I just discovered on a multi-user Win2000 Pro PC that users without Administrator rights (Power Users) can NOT burn CDs using MJ8 because MJ errors with 'no CD-RW devices detected'. If I change the user(s) to include Administrator rights, they can burn (no problems).
So, why does MJ8 require a user to have highest-level Administrator rights to burn a CD? On the same PC with Easy CD Creator 5.0 (Platinum) installed, the non-Admin users can burn just fine (no problem). Is this an MJ8 feature or a bug.

It's a byproduct of our use of the registry. We'll try to correct it in MJ 9.

Why in MJ9? Burning an audio CD is an audio function, not image or video. I'm not so sure that the rumors were greatly exaggerated.

The right's thingy never occurred to me because I always set myself as an Administrator. But I see plenty of problems with installs if a person doesn't do the same. It really should be addressed in v8 (IMO) in the following way (for installs on NT based systems only, not relevant on Win9x systems)....
If MJ is making truly system level changes, then it should be left as is (worst case) but with a prominent on-screen message to the effect that you DO need Administrative rights to install MJ successfully.
This may prevent ALOT of problems

This is only a limitation when using the "internal aspi" option in MJ. If you install Adaptec's aspi and uncheck "use internal aspi" it should work for all users.
This is part of the security built into NT/2000/XP when using their internal "scsi pass-through" interface. The work around is kind of complicated and messy - I think it requires a "service" to be always running on the system. We'll look at it for version 9.
