Title: AVI in parts
Post by: NickM on September 10, 2004, 10:24:14 pm
I copied a couple of VOB files from a DVD to my HDD and renamed them AVI.  Media Centre plays them OK, but it would be nice to have a seamless gap between the two parts.
Is there a setting for MC to play in sequence for this?  Alternatively, is it possible to combine the AVI's?

I have not seen a player software that can play large video files gapless yet. Would be nice though.

I suppose your video files are still in MPEG-2 format since you just copied the VOB files from a DVD. Usually .mpg is used for MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 videos instead of .avi. The file extension does not tell what codecs are used. Especially the AVI is a container format. Video & audio content that is compressed with a wide variety of codecs can be stored in an .avi file and played, if the appropriate codecs are installed on the computer.

For combining MPEG-2 files you could try this:
