I am and have been using 10.0.161, when I select import media, the dialog comes up "Importing new files", and it gets stuck searching with 0 files found. I even tried doing this on an empty directory, and it still gets stuck And the Cancel doesn't work when it gets stuck, and I have to select "Exit" from the system tray icon, which closes MC, but then an execption is thrown. I tried reinstalling but to no avail.
Any ideas?

maybe a bad media file
maybe you should take some of the files out of the folder your trying to import from and see what one is making MC stop importing on.
-
But as I mentioned, it hangs now even on empty folders.
-
I see.
you could back up your Library then clear the Library and try again
if it does not work, you could uninstall, remove the J river folder and all folders below it (back up your cover art folder)
reinstall MC
put back the cover art folder
re-import
yes you will lose your play lists

I unistalled MC 10, deleted the directory, reinstalled 10.0.161, and it still hangs even when searching an empty directory. I even tried deleting the stuff under JRiver in the registry.
What else can I try?

Use the advanced option in import.
Try searching for a single file type. Wav, for example.
And try searching a single directory. Use the browse button.
Is it possible MC is searching for a network drive that has been removed?

MC 11 works, so maybe I will just use that.

I had this sort of problem when i started using MC. Maybe JR folks, could provide some leniency in letting MC look for media files.
I guess they have specified some rules like a song should be 20 seconds long, something like that. These are the ones causing the problem.
I had trouble with my old real media files. MC could not handle that.
A suggestion: if the media is not suitable, then let the customer decide , not MC.
cheers,

it is media files less than 5 seconds if i am not mistaken, and there is an option to allow them to be imported, it is on the Advanced import Dialog.
