Make sure you have the latest version.
Use IE as your browser.
Use your Registration Code to restore. Install keys last for just 14 days. After that you must restore.
Uninstall, reinstall.
Details are here:
www.mediajukebox.com/license
If you post again, please copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

Hello,
just downloaded the newest version, Install Key is two days old.
Made a complett uninstall. Tried again - some failure.
Same with restore via Internet it only counts down the restores per year (now 8 of 10).
Using XP Pro SP2, unable to post system info from MC because i cant start MC.
-
What (full) version of MC are you using? The license may be for a different version.
Are you using IE?
Maybe your security is screwed down too tight.
-
I downloaded the file "MediaCenter10.exe". My license file is called "Media Center10-47557.mjr"
I am using IE 6.0.2900
My securcity settings are set to standard values. I am using Windows XP SP2.
No extra security software, no other browser then IE.
-
Did you download from our site?
Can you try installing on another PC (as a test)?
-
Try the latest MC 10:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter100161.exe
And then let us know if the error persists.
Thanks and sorry for the hassle.

I'm having the same problem as Tenderfoot. Why did my previous version of MC suddenly stop working anyway?
I downloaded MC 10 as you suggested and tried to enter the restore key. I get an error message saying something like...cannot open file. Any other ideas?
Thanks, Grant
-
Let me also add that MC 10, while trying to open, gave me a threatening error message about not being able to load my library. I exited, so I hope all is not lost, but I don't like how this is going. MC has been installed and running fine on my machine for probably a year. Why the trouble all of a sudden? The only thing I've done recently is run HijackThis and Ad Assassin programs to get rid of bugs. I also backed up all my data files yesterday, but I don't see how these moves would affect MC.
Help, please.

Well, it looks like I may have solved the restore problem. (I didn't have the restore file in the same folder as the JRiver program.) And I paid for the upgrade to version 10, but now when it begins to open it cannot find/open my library, saying my library file may be corrupt. How can I avoid losing all my previous library settings?
Anybody out there?
Thanks, Grant
-
The license does not need to be in the same folder. You may have something else going on.
-
Hmmm...thanks for that. Any helpful suggestions? Any idea why I'm having this library problem? Is there a way to save/find my old settings?
Grant

No idea at this point. You can backup your data and clear your library to see if you can start over. If that works, try restoring your library.
But it's likely there's another problem on your PC.

Try saving the .mjr file in the Media Center folder. Then manually run it from there. Does that make any difference?
Also, do you have MC 11 installed on the same machine, or just MC 10?
Thanks.
-
I am only running MC 10.
I just copied the .mjr file to the mediacenter folder and started from there. It made a difference.
Now it is saying: Error restoring Media Center license: Failed opening registry. You must have "administrator" privilege to install the license.
But I definitly have administrator privilege !!
-
If you are familiar with using "regedit" to view your computer's registry, you can look for the key called "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\BuyButton\2.0\JRiver, Inc.\Media Center\10". Does this exist? If so, there should be a value within the "10" key folder called "RCode".
Do you know of anything unusual about the registry permissions on this computer that may prevent a program from adding to or modifying it?
-
This sounds like a security problem on your PC.
-
in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\ the only two subfolder are "Media Core" and "Media Jukebox"
-
Are you running WinXP service pack 2?
-
Re-reading the thread, I see you are using XP sp 2. Try exploring the security settings in XP.

I too am having trouble restoring my license. I reinstalled media jukebox which had been running with no problems after converting to a raid configuration. I have two .mjr files and neither works. When I try to register and select Restore from location it takes me to the jriver/mediajukebox folder on the system drive. I then select the .mjr file and always receive - "Error installing Media Jukebox license: Ok.
What gives and how do I restore my license without using another restore from the MJ website. Thanks
-
mn19521:
Please do a restore from the website, your mjr file may be expired. Let me know if this works and I'll reset your restore counter to zero.
If that doesn't do it, please post your system info and email me your mjr file.
johnt @ jriver.com
Thanks.
-
Did you solve your problem ?
I have the same error and no idea !!

Could you send me the "mjr" file and I'll take a look at it here?
Thanks.
