People have had success using a utility to do that.  Try a search at download.com.

I do run my HTTP and FTP servers as a service because they had an option to do so.

What is the advantage of doing so?

Can't there me an option to Check to allow Media Server to run as a service?

King Sparta:

Running as a service makes it easier to control remotely, control startup better etc. Especially if the machine does not autologon.

Yeah, JR river could add that function into the software programatically or there are several utilities that set it up.

JimH:

Thanks for the report - I'm familar with the utilities but some applications don't work well setup as "Run As Service" and I did not find any reports here about it.

I believe Jim is referring to FireDaemon http://www.firedaemon.com/ (http://www.firedaemon.com/)

The free version lets you run ONE program as a service
