I just installed MC on my new laptop and when I went to restore it said first that I had 13 restores left, (that I know is wrong as one only gets 10 per year) and after restoring I only had 3. I don't know how that's possible as I've only installed MC 4 times in the past year, including this time, (the previous time was back in February when I had a HD failure). No one else has access to my 2 computers (no kids). I'd appreciate it if someone at JRiver could look into this.
If/when I upgrde to v10 or 11 are my restores reset?

I don't remember that, but we will check your account, maker, and see what we can find.

Thanks.

Hi modelmaker,
Could you send the e-mail you used to purchase to gateley at jriver dot com please?
Thanks,

Could be from old age but I don't think so.

Well, not to contradict the Big Cheese, but I remember that thread. But alas, I'm too lazy to do a forum search to prove it. :P
The thread was sketchy at best--maybe John just didn't want to share too much information--but there was a problem with the server or something, the problem was fixed, and no one's restore count, in the end, should have been affected. <shrug>

Your restore report should show that you have used 7, and have 3 available (enter your e-mail address on the restore page).
It looks like you are doing restores in pairs. Do you have two computers that you are using?

Thanks John.
I guess I'll have to chalk this up to "operator malfunction"!
I only had one computer (at a time) until the most recent restore which I used on my new laptop. However, from the report it seems, that instead of reinstalling from the already issued key file I used another "restore" several times. I can only attribute this to my ignorance.
The June 2003 restore was due to a WinMe crash(and an Fdisk & switch to Win2K).
January 2004 was the rebuild of my machine with new HDs & the computer shop loaded Windows on the wrong drive so I had to start over a couple of days later and used a new restore instead of the file.
April 2004 was the subsequent failure of one of those new drives (and the loss of 1/3 of my library). Apr 12 everyting crashed, I reinstalled everything on the fourteenth and again I wasn't able to use the key file (it wasn't saved) and used another restore, (somehow twice in one minute!!).
I got a new "C" drive in May, that was past the 2 weeks and so had to use a restore. And the September restore was for the new laptop.
So, I guess the lesson learned is to save your restore key to a floppy or somethng in case you have to do a do over and hopefully I won't need more than 3 restores over the next year!
Question: Do the restores get reset when you upgrade to the next version (as I plan to do when v11 is released) ?

yes, since it is a new license
