Title: Real is stealing my filetype
Post by: TimB on September 15, 2004, 10:54:37 am
I have a cool little program that, amongst other cool things, tells me when another program is trying to steal a filetype.

Real (which I haven't consciously installed but I think AOL might install it) keeps on trying to steal my .ram filetype.  Any ideas on how to stop this?

tim

sorry if you already know this already, but you can set media scheduler to retain control of filetypes (including .ram types) then use something like spybot to stop the real player program loading at startup which should do it.

If realplayer is installed, go to program files and run it.  Then under preferences tell it to stop running the active start center.  It's a little hard to find and do, but it should be there.

You may have to reboot.

Jim, looks like your solution has worked.

Thanks!
