Title: Media Center 11.0.85 Alpha Available
Post by: Matt on September 17, 2004, 04:55:51 pm
We're still working on Media Center 11.  We appreciate your feedback on it, but MC11 may not work as expected and we can't yet fully support it.  When upgrading from MC 10, you will lose your view schemes.  Some plugins still do not work.

We recommend that you use MC10 below, but if you want to use MC 11 while we're building it, PRICES are here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311 (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311)

If you want a more trouble-free experience, please download Media Center 10 here:

Media Center 11 is available here:

You guys need to either get a faster FTP server, or stop making everyone love your program so much that they all want to download new versions at the same time :)

The create CUE file option isn't working. MC always rips to individual tracks rather than creating a CUE sheet.

Also it would be really nice if MC, when automatically downloading cover art after a rip, would store that file in the same folder as the ripped files, with the name of "folder.jpg", or optionally allow us to choose a naming convention.

Actually, the same goes for the .log file created by MC's secure ripper. I'd like that to be stored in the same folder as the ripped files, with a naming convention of ARTIST - ALBUM.log, or optionally allow us to choose a naming convention.

If these three things could be made to work, MCs ripping would be perfect (for me).

I also had a File Associations suggestion. With all of these different formats, I thought it would make things nice and easy if the File Associations dialog had a "Select/Deselect All Audio Formats", "Select/Deselect All Video Formats", "Select/Deselect All Image Formats" buttons. Or toggles or something (maybe even just seperate the three different media types into groupings in the dialog?)... I like having all of my video and audio associated with MC, but while I import all of my images into MC, I prefer to have them associated with something that's a little quicker at starting up when you double click an image file. Having these buttons or groupings would just make it easier to associate media types like this.

I have an Epson Photo R300 printer with a built in card reader.  MC hangs on startup if there's a card in the reader.  I'm not sure, but I think it was OK with 11.0.84, MC could read the card but couldn't display thumbnails.

This build recognises that my Ipod is there -shown correctly as drive K - but clicking on it produces only a small warning box with a rec "X" in it and the word"OK". Clicking "OK" gets rid of the box but freezes MC 11 so that it has to be shut down via Task Manager. I'm running Win XP SP 2.

Same behaviour here with My Creative Zen. Clicking on sync paylist crashes MC as well.

I find myself using the Import & Repair function frequently to repair 'broken links' caused by "external changes" made within MC and thus restore the file icons back to normal rather than the red X.

This causes an over abundance of accumulated excess library backups, requiring manual cleaning.

As requested previously by others, can we please have a setting to limit the number of backups to a set value (perhaps 3 or 5) after which the oldest are deleted by MC during part of the Import & Repair process?

I registered V11 a couple of days ago, but it's suddenly decided I'm still running the trial version!!  I've reinstalled the license OK, but....

I have been currently using - ati remote wonder
and it has been controlling the play, stop, pause,
advance track ,etc. buttons fine up until version 11.
Is there a reason that these buttons no longer work?

Did you try re-learning the keys of the remote using Tools-Options-Remote Control? I got caught that way when I went from 10 to 11...

Which remote control plug-in are you using for the Remote Wonder? I do not find one.

Minor but annoying tag editing bug:
Highlight text in tag info action window and hit delete brings up dialog to delete file from media center instead of deleteing highlighted text.

Also the "ALL" selection when viewing music files from the tree not in the panes:
When there a multiple sub folders the "ALL" will correctly indicate the correct number of sub folders but selecting the "ALL" gives the entire library, not just the sub-folders.

MC doesn't recognize my CD player (note: old CD, not a burner). Then, it uses the slowest speed possible, being a pain to rip anything. Any solutions?

How about CD+G playback on Media Center 11?
If Media Center can play CD+G discs it would be fantastic!!!

It may be in PIO mode.  Try a search for PIO here and at google.

I have a problem ripping with Media Center 11.0.85. (I upgraded my WMA encoders and it won't rip with the latest MC 10, so I was told to try using MC 11 until the next update of MC 10).

I have the following drives and settings:

Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-116
Secure
Max

Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-8125
Secure
Max

Encode on-the-fly while ripping is enabled for both drives.

I am trying to rip a brand new CD - Oasis/Be Here Now.

The CD ripped fine with Windows Media Player 10 using both drives. It rips perfectly in MC 11 when I use the Pioneer drive.

When I try ripping with the Lite-On a message box titled "cdripper" says, "Error reading input file" every few seconds. If I pick the 'OK' button, it will continue with the rip and create a file, but this message continues to appear and I have to keep picking 'OK'. The next message will show that the tracks completed with 100% quality. However, the track, which should have a duration of 7:42, only ends up with a duration of 0:05.

When I originally installed MC 11.0.84, I was able to successfully rip several CDs using the LiteOn drive. Then after about a half dozen CDs, this problem appeared. Then I decided to upgrade to 11.0.85, which didn't help.

Gregg,
Can you start a new thread on this?  It sounds like the drive may not be reliable.

Sure, I'll start a new thread.

BTW, I haven't run into any problems with this drive before this incident. It has been working perfectly with MC 10 (until the new WMA codec). It also works fine with WMA10 and EAC.

BUG:

- When draggin a tile to 'edit playing now' in the action window all currently viewed files get added rather than the one selected only.
- When using delete in 'edit playing now' in the action window there will sometimes be no action done, or MC will ask if the track should be removed from MC's lib.

IMPROVEMENTS:

-There should be support for multilple tiles templates or at least one's custumized tiles shouldn't get deleted when a newer version of Media Center is intalled.
(some oldies)
-Support for external icons for items in the tree.
-It would be nice if we could have a view-option with ONE big coverart on the left and detailed info next to the cover art. Even developers (I think Matt) talked about it when 9.1 was a pretty new thing...
