I've had this problem since buying MJ a couple of months ago:
I have the taskbar and a docked toolbar set to Auto-hide / Always on Top. About 90% of the time after maximising MJ, selecting new tracks and minimising MJ to system tray, both taskbar and toolbar will not appear from autohide.
I need to minimise all open applications - taskbar and toolbar will now appear from autohide. I then need to click once on taskbar and toolbar to make them work with an application window maximised.
Make sense? Any ideas because it's really annoying?
Using WinXP Pro SP1, IE6 latest updates, XP1800+, 512MB.

try making MJ smaller, this does happen in windows sometimes if a program window size is close or overlaping the taskbar.
I have no problems with MJ and windows doing this.
-
Well, I run a *lot* of other apps and MJ is the only one to cause this problem.
I just tried running MJ not maximised and the same problem occurred immediately - even if it had worked it's addressing the symptom and not the cause.
Looks like a genuine bug to me. :/
-
Just bringing this back to the top.
I'd appreciate acknowledgement and hopefully a solution from the developers.
Thanks
David.

As far as I know, nobody else has reported this. Unless somebody else does, we have to assume it is not MJ.
Try turning skinning off or on to see if that makes a difference.
Try turning off any 3rd party plugins you are using with MJ.
Video driver?
Nice photo, BTW.

Hi Jim
I've just tried turning off default skin - the problem persists.
I've got latest nVidia drivers running on GeForce4 4400.
I don't have any plugins installed other than the default.
Like I said, MJ is the only app causing this problem for me - but if I'm the only one complaining then I understand you're not too keen to investigate.
If there's anything else you can suggest I'd be grateful.
David.
If you like the photo hire 'Guest House Paradiso' from the video shop. :)

maybe we can get someone with a GeForce4 4400 to test it out.
I just checked again on 3 systems and i have No problem.
I do have a program that does do this when it is at full screen but it is Not MJ.

I'm not expert in video driver issues, but drivers are software and all non-trivial software has bugs.
I tried this search at google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=nvidia+geforce+driver+problems
and here is a sample of what I found:

Thanks for the link. I had a look through it but don't see anything that applies to my rig.
As it's only MJ causing this problem out of 100+ apps I use / have used, looks like I'm going to have to live with it. :(
Kind regards
David.

If you want to fix the problem, the first step may be to keep from assuming it is MJ. It is always possible, but since it isn't being reported by others, it is not likely.
Did you, for example, take a look at what version of DirectX you have? Did you read any of the other problems with nvidia drivers?
-
Although it an annoyance I agree whole heartedly!!
But nonetheless an annoyance is all it is...
It doesn't hurt the functionality of MJ, or the OS...
This is a known glitch in the Microsoft post Win95 OS's...
Extensive applications cause this...
I am sure you found that not only MJ but other applications at times prevent the Taskbar from Auto hiding...
What I absolutely hate is that this happens with them ** Net Pop-ups'!! And if they are behind any application or Browser you can bet the Taskbar won't hide!
Just remember it's the OS not the Application...
I haven't ever thought of contacting Microsoft on this but it might be worth a try... You might want to see about posting this there... I might as well!
Take care!
Pat!

Sure, the root cause may lay somehwhere else but it's only MJ showing the symptoms. As no one else has complained then I can't argue that it's something unique on my machine.

Latest DirectX AFAIK - I have all updates from Windows Update (SP1, etc.). Do MS supply separate DirectX drivers for XP? They only list downloads for 95 / 98 / ME / 2000.
I scanned through half a dozen sites on nVidia problems + same for 'xp auto-hide problem'. I've even installed the latest beta drivers from nVidia.
Unless you guys hit on the problem / solution it looks like I'm resigned to cursing at the 'puter 20 times a day. :(

David,
If other people saw the problem and they were using different video cards, we would chase it. As I've said, I don't believe it is an MJ problem.

Fair enough if no one else has complained of similar.
Thanks for your time, Jim.
