I have never had a problem ripping in MC 9, but now when I try to rip, the first song on the disc goes through "copying," and then I get a Windows message saying Media Core has experienced a problem and needs to shut down.
Any suggestions? I am using the latest version of 9.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

i think i got more of them error messages with MC9 than I Did with MC10 and MC11.
1. Make sure you had the last version of MC9
2. If something has happen to some files in the MC9 folder, maybe a new install over top may help

The only thing that changed is that I DL'ed service pack 2.

Is the answer "get MC10?"
-
well "Get MC11" Would Work For Me, not sure it would help you.

What do you mean?

Simply i am not sure upgrading is the answer to your problems.
I also have the SR2 and have had no problems however

Irockmecca,
Unfortunately it is not possible to change MC 9 anymore. MS has already changed the OS and I don't think they are going to stop.
So if it worked earlier and you like to keep it as it was before your only chance is to find out what has changed. I would restore a previous OS/other software configuration, because I have full backups. If you don't have, you can blame only yourself. By the way, did you try to simply uninstall/reinstall MC 9?
On the other hand if you install MC 11 now you get a 30-day try out period. The upgrade price is peanuts for most of us. It is more a matter of personal preferences. Unfortunately I don't think MC 9.x can coexist with MC 11 on the same PC. There were some changes in the recent MC 10 builds for allowing coexistence with MC 11.

My trial version of MC10 is ripping like a champ. Now I just have to try to remember how I had MC9 set up to rip and encode....
Thanks for the help. Steve

Actually, the period after "help" and 2 spaces before "Steve" indicates a hard break. I wasnt thanking just Alex B. I was thanking all repsonders, no matter how useless thier response was.
Thanks. Steve
