I had an issue that was best resolved with restoring my library. It worked fine except, the files are on a network drive mapped as M:\, and the path in the library is fine, the mapped drive is accessible, but MC says it cannot find the file for everything in the library, without exception. The information is right, the files are fine (they will play if you d-click in Explorer). The link with MC is just broken. It happens this way in versions .106, .99, and .95. If I reimport the files, I lose all history for the playing info, not a big deal but...
I have restarted the system, and it still does not 'hook up'

turns out the library I was restoring from was dated 10/17/2004, and i added an a to the end. it does not like that.
i tried to restore from the file with the same date but with no a on the end and it's fine. i'll have to do some maintenence to get it back to where I killed it, but at least I have most of my info.
I still think there's a bug in that system, but at least I can get back to tagging.

I don't think MC cares about the filename as long as it ends with the .zip and the file includes a library backup. That must be something else.
I have restored these backups recently:
"MC Library Backup (Default - 11.10.2004)_2.zip" and
"MC Library Backup (Default - 17.10.2004) II.zip".

yeah, I wouldn't think it should matter. Maybe I got a bad backup. It restores fine, the library is correct, the path is correct, it just doesn't synch up with the files. I restored an earlier backup with the same name, except without an "a" on the end and it worked fine. No issues at all.
I just think there's some sort of bug. I got my issue taken care of, but i thought J River might look into it.
It's good to know that you didn't have any issues with extra characters. Must have just been me.
