Hi There. Does anyone know what might be causing this error? Media Server dump is below. Client simply reports an "Unknown Error". Running MC11 build 106 on both server and client.
I get this error when I attempt to play a file while using Media Server. Initial connections to my shared library are ok.
The Library Server plugin is disabled. Reason: I want to be able to connect to my library without needing Media Center to be running on the server, ie, as it used to be!!.
10/20/04 19:38:27 - received a connection
10/20/04 19:38:27 - Current Connections: 1
10/20/04 19:38:27 - ready for another connection
10/20/04 19:38:27 - sending 415
10/20/04 19:38:27 - Client tried to download an unsupported file type.
Thanks.

What type of file are you playing?
Even though you are not running Media Center on the server, you actually are using most of resources you'd be using if you were, it's not that much of a savings.

Hi John. Thanks for the reply. It's any audio or image file. Am I doing something wrong?
Media Server was one of the key selling points for me in version 10. Are you suggesting it will be removed in the future? With multiple users (and therefore multiple instances of MC) running on XP, the seperate server process just makes more sense to me.
Thanks.

Can you post the file name of one of the files that is playing?
The functionality of Media Server will not go away. The way you get that functionality might change.

It's any file. I've not been able to play anything. I always get this same error.
The only thing Media Server reports that it streams ok are things like album cover art and image thumbnails etc. As soon as you hit play on these though, thats when the problem happens.

I still need a file name, just copy-and-past e it please.

D:\Audio\Alanis Morrisette\Jagged Little Pill\06 Forgiven.mp3

Fixed in next build. Be aware that Media Server may be replaced by Library Server soon.
