Title: Media Center file types
Post by: marticm on October 21, 2004, 09:17:50 am
Windows Explorer shows all my media files as Media Center file types. I would like to see them as they originally were (AVI, MPG, etc.) Is there a way to change this back? I don't like it when programs change views in other parts of my system that are unrelated to the program.

In MC options go to File associations and uncheck the file types.

Then in another program, set the file associations the way you want.

MC was doing what you told it to do.

Windows will always show filetypes with the icons that are associated with those files. If you have told MC to be associated then that is what will show in Explorer.  So, are you talking about the icons in Explorer?

If you want to change them back, you can associate those files with the original programs (Windows Media Player?).

In Windows Explorer goto Tools / Folder Options / View and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
