Title: Syncronize Genre in MC 11 to IPOD

I am not sure if this is "just the way it works" but I have my media center library on my home desktop and sync it with my ipod. I then point my laptop to my ipod as my library and make changes to the library such as rating and Genre.  When I syncronize back at home it creates duplicate files with the new properties instead of just editing my properties. Can anything be done to fix this or is this just a bad idea?
