Title: A device error occurred. Error number is 1038
Post by: rmdw on October 24, 2004, 01:31:59 pm
Hi folks. I experienced this specific error while burning an audio CD. Since I couldn't find any reference to this in the forum, I thought I'd post for anyone else that runs into the same problem.

A device error occurred. Error number is 1038
Error data is: KEY: 5 ASC: 63 ASCQ: 0

What happened?

1. Created playlist of 20 or so MP3 and WMA tracks. Total playing time was just under 80 mins.

2. CD-R has 80 mins capacity.

3. Start CD burn.

4. Error message appears as last track is being written to CD-R.

Resolution: Remove one track from playlist to reduce total song time. I suspect that I was running out of space on the CD, given that there are a couple of seconds of blank space between each track.
