Title: Playing DVD files from HDD
Post by: StarBand Guy on October 30, 2004, 05:35:23 pm
I don't have a DVD player hooked up to my MC 11 machine, but I have DVD's ripped to a hard drive.

What's the best way to set them up to play from Theatre View mode?  My other home videos (AVI) show up.

Can I show just one file (TS Video?) that would play the entire DVD?

From your VIDEO_TS directory, import the associated VTS_01_1 file into MC. This will play the entire DVD.

Thanks for your help.  Can I rename that file or does it have to remain as it is?

In other words, how can I distinguish between different videos with those file names in them?

Sorry for the elementary questions.  I've done quite a bit of ripping and burning, but not for playing off of hard drives.

Yeah, rename it as you would any file in MC. But... dvd files don't support the same tag-able properties as say an mp3. The best way to manage a dvd library from what I can gather is to import the dvds into a playlist, set it up the way you want and then export the playlist as a backup. That way you can re-import the playlist file containing all your changes and settings if required.

Makes sense.  I was thinking along the lines of a playlist as well.

Thanks again.
