I'm opening some TIF files off the web and Firefox wants to use Quicktime. I'd prefer to have the photos sent to an external application, I can't see the Quicktime application assigned to TIF files in the Options/Downloads screen and I've set Explorer to open TIF files with an external application. How can I change Firefox?

In Explorer check under Tools > Folder Options, File Types tab to make sure that Quicktime isn't the default association for TIF files. It is my understanding, Fx uses the default Windows associations when it doesn't have one defined in the Options > Downloads screen. You may also want to open Quicktime and make sure it isn't trying tot take control of TIFs as well.

Thanks but nope this isn't the issue, checked both of them. :)
I click on the TIFF (thought I'd offer both spellings) and Quicktime comes up.

Hmm... I have no idea then. I guess my suggestion would be to check the Fx support forums to see if anyone else has raised this issue.

FF>Tools>Options>Downloads>File Types>select your extension in the list and hit the Change Action button ... or play with settings under the Plug Ins button in same dialog box.
