Hi,
I'm about to download a trial of MC to check it out and want to ensure what I'd like to be able to do is available in version 10 (I guess that's the one I want to get). Reading through the posts and help, it does seem that it works in 11, but there are stability suggestions to stay with 10, which I guess as a total newbie, I might should do ;D
I have about 10,000 tracks in .ape format on the HTPC and would like to be able to synch some or all of them with my laptop, but convert to .mp3 VBR on the laptop side in the process.
Can I do this in version 10 and / or 11?
If I want to synch all tracks, I assume I would just highlight all tracks in the library with a ctrl-a to select all and then a couple of MC menu commands to start the synch?
If I want to synch some subset of the total library, would I just need to put what I want into a playlist and then highlight all songs in that list?
When you synch in this manner, does the actual folder structure that gets created on the laptop match that of the HTPC for the synch'd tracks?
If the htpc and laptop are both on my home network, is the laptop seen as some type of external device?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, in V11

There's an option to copy the entire library, but that'll include non-audio files as well if you've got any. You can easily put all the audio files in a playlist and synch that.

Not quite, you just select the playlists you want to be synched - you don't need to select the files in the playlists

Yes

Not exactly - you need to setup the laptop's disk as a network share and then tell MC to treat it as a handheld device. That's a one off that takes about 10 seconds!

Ian,
These are some really cool and powerful features that sound fairly straight forward to take advantage of. 8)
Thanks very much for the feedback. I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
