Hey all,
Well, I recently made the switch to a new 17" iMac G5. I love the machine, but obviously I am sorely missing MC.
I have searched the boards and FAQs for this question, but I couldn't find an answer (a search for "mac" or "mac version" brings back tons of posts with the work "machine"). I'm almost sure it's been asked before, but I couldn't find it.
I know there is no Mac version of MC right now. Will there ever be? Is this something that's planned for the future, or is it not in the cards?
I'm afraid I already know the answer but I'm hoping I'm wrong. :)
Thanks,

I'd hope so too...maybe the hypothesized Linux version would be easily ported to OSX.
Actually, I'd settle for a QuickTime component that played back APEs/APLs within iTunes.
Best,
Brad

It's the one thing I'm really missing. I like the custom tags and view schemes, King's Cover Art Finder, Smartlists, etc. If I keep going, this list is going to get very long. :)

We have no current plans to port to OS X. Maybe later sometime.

Cough ... Mono ... cough.
Seriously though, as I mention almost every time this comes up, I would love to see an OSX (and less importantly, but might-as-well Linux) version.
Of course, very little seems to have gone my way over the past couple of days. :'(

I'd be amazed if JRiver did this, not a value judgement just a strategy one.
Can you run it under PC emulation?

Yes, you can run it under VirtualPC -- but not well...particularly if your music files are stored on a network device.

You know, iTunes really doesn't come close to the playback quality of Media Center..
How much of MC playback is delegated to the Windows and how much
is MC?
Just curious, cause I use a Mac sometimes and on Mac I use iTunes or Whamb. Both
sound the same, so I imagine that for the most part, the Mac Apps delegate
most of the playback to the OS.
Since I have a Mac and PC, I wonder if MC could connect a shared iTunes library
or vice versa. As it is, I have to go across Samba if I want to use both playbacks
(not at the same time of course).

Ooh missed this post before.
Yes. I too have just moved to a Mac for work. I am missing MC terribly also. I have tried it under Virtual PC, however there are continuity problems for playback (gaps when the VPC runs out of CPU), and also file management of files that are on a shared harddisk seems to be impossible - the temporary file names that MC used when re-tagging a file seem to confuse things so that it crashes.
So J River, anytime you wanted to go into the Mac market - I think you should clean up. MC is just so much better a product than iTunes!

BTW...
Can MC connect to an iTunes shared library and vice versa?
